Dr. Sandy Colvard is a licensed Naturopathic Physician providing a total wellness approach for your body, mind, and spirit.

“My goal as a physician is to assist and offer guidance for each patient on the path back to health. I focus on supporting each patient's physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing; working to create a setting where the body will begins to heal. Using my medical knowledge in conjunction with my naturopathic principles, I work to diagnose, treat, and provide support and encouragement for each patient that walks through my door.”

Dr. Colvard is a Primary Care Physician, licensed in Vermont, who specializes in natural/alternative treatments for Anxiety/Depression, Hormone Imbalances, Thyroid Issues, Insomnia, Chronic Pain, Headaches, Gastrointestinal Complaints, and Musculoskeletal Pain/Injuries. Natural treatment modalities include: Clinical Nutrition, Herbal Medicine, Physical Medicine/Adjustments, and Homeopathy.

PLEASE NOTE - Special Information for Tennessee Residents:

Unfortunately, at the present time, Tennessee does not offer licensure to Naturopathic Physicians. Dr. Colvard cannot bill insurance or perform acupuncture in Tennessee at this time. In order to be compliant with the current state regulations, Dr. Colvard works under the supervision of Dr. David Forbes, M.D. of Nashville Integrative Medicine.
Currently, 16 states, 5 Canadian provinces, the District of Columbia, and the US territories of Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands all have laws regulating naturopathic doctors (NDs). In these states and provinces, naturopathic doctors are required to graduate from a four-year, residential naturopathic medical school and pass an extensive postdoctoral board examination (NPLEX) in order to receive a license.

Dr. Colvard is a graduate of Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and has passed all postdoctoral examinations. Dr. Colvard has also taught at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine. Dr. Colvard currently maintains a practice and her medical license in Vermont, where she is considered a Primary Care Provider and is credentialed with all major insurance carriers. Dr. Colvard has also held medical licensure in Washington State and Arizona.

Originally from Flatwoods, Kentucky, Dr. Colvard spent the majority of her life in the Washington, DC area. In addition to her medical degree from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, AZ. Dr. Colvard has her B.A. (Cum Laude) in Neuroscience from Smith College in Northampton, MA and her A.A. in Science (Magna Cum Laude) from Northern Virginia Community College in Annandale, VA. Dr. Colvard has always been interested in healthcare and is particularly intrigued by the brain and how our emotional states affect our physical health.

Dr. Colvard loves to use both sides of her brain! She is an athlete and has played competitive softball and volleyball. She has also been a performer and loves music, dancing, and theater. Her favorite accomplishments include having her own country band in the DC area and having acted in several community theatre productions.
