Alison graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in 2005 with a Masters of Science, and is dual-board certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner by the ANCC and AANP. Earlier in her career, she worked for Vanderbilt in Hematology/Oncology in the Bone Marrow Transplant clinic. After this she worked with Howell Allen, a neurosurgery practice where her primary duties were related to pain management procedures--here she gained expertise with procedures such as trigger point injections, occipital nerve blocks, and therapeutic Botox and Myobloc. Most recently she worked in an Ear Nose and Throat specialty clinic. Alison has always been interested in holistic and integrative medicine and has pursued continuing education and personal research in those areas, including topics such as Clinical Aromatherapy, First and Second degree Reiki, Meditation, and clinical uses of honey.
Alison has spent most of her life in Tennessee but loves to travel and through family trips, singing with the Chattanooga Girls Choir, and study abroad programs, she has been fortunate to travel to 20 countries. She also spent five weeks in Africa for a medical mission, as well as one in Peru. Alison has also been involved in disaster relief with the Red Cross, and was a member of the Middle Tennessee Medical Reserve Corp.
